Travelling by Train from Malaga Airport
For most visitors, the C1 Cercanías train is the fastest, cheapest and most convenient way to travel between Malaga Airport and the city centre.

If your hotel is closer to Malaga’s Old Town, the Airport Express Bus, officially known as Line A, can be an even better choice than the train.
Operated by EMT Málaga, the Airport Express runs directly between the airport and the city centre, stopping at several convenient locations including María Zambrano Station and Alameda Principal, one of Malaga’s main transport hubs and just a short walk from many hotels, restaurants and attractions.
Unlike the train, which serves only railway stations, the Airport Express drops passengers much closer to the heart of the historic centre, meaning you may have less walking with your luggage.
The journey usually takes 20 to 30 minutes, although traffic can increase journey times during the busiest periods.
One of the biggest advantages of the Airport Express is its generous luggage provision. Large suitcases are carried free of charge, making it particularly popular with holidaymakers arriving for longer stays.

Is There a Metro from Malaga Airport?
This is one of the questions visitors ask most often, and the answer surprises many people.
No, Malaga Metro does not currently serve the airport directly.
Although Metro Málaga is an excellent way to travel around the city itself, neither Line 1 nor Line 2 reaches the airport terminal.
Instead, the easiest way to access the Metro is to first take either the C1 Cercanías train or the Airport Express Bus into the city. Both stop close to María Zambrano Station, where you’ll find El Perchel Metro Station, the interchange for both Metro lines.
From there you can continue towards destinations including the University of Malaga, Palacio de Deportes, Carranque, La Unión, Atarazanas and many residential neighbourhoods across the western side of the city.
