Wizz Air has confirmed the launch of a new direct route linking Yerevan and Bratislava, strengthening air connectivity between Armenia and Central Europe. The announcement was originally made on 21 November 2025 but has only now come to wider attention among many travellers.
Flights will begin on 13 January 2026 and operate three times a week – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays – running throughout the summer season. Tickets are already on sale via the Wizz Air website and mobile app, with fares starting from €29.99 one way.
A new Central European link from Armenia
The Yerevan–Bratislava service adds Slovakia’s capital to Wizz Air’s growing Armenian network. The airline is already one of the most prominent low-cost operators serving the country, and this route marks the ninth new destination launched from Yerevan in 2025 alone.
For Armenian passengers, Bratislava opens up a compact, walkable European capital with strong onward connections by rail and road. The city sits close to Vienna, Budapest, and Brno, making it a practical gateway for travellers planning multi-city trips across Central Europe.
At the same time, the route is expected to support inbound tourism to Armenia, encouraging Slovak and regional travellers to explore Yerevan and the wider country without relying on indirect connections.
Why Bratislava matters to travellers
Bratislava is often overshadowed by larger neighbours, but its appeal lies in its manageable size and relaxed atmosphere. Located along the Danube River, the city blends medieval streets with modern cafés and cultural spaces.
Key sights include Bratislava Castle, St Martin’s Cathedral, and the Old Town Main Square, while the UFO Observation Deck on the SNP Bridge offers panoramic views across the river. For travellers who prefer quieter city breaks, Bratislava provides an alternative to more crowded capitals, while still delivering history, food culture, and riverside walks.
From a transport perspective, Bratislava Airport’s proximity to the city centre makes arrivals simple, and rail links connect easily to Vienna in under an hour – a detail that may appeal to travellers using apps like Omio or Trainline to build cross-border itineraries.
Wizz Air’s expanding footprint in Yerevan
The new route underlines Wizz Air’s strategic focus on Armenia as a growth market. Over recent years, the airline has steadily expanded frequencies and destinations from Zvartnots International Airport, responding to rising outbound travel demand.
Commenting on the expansion, Anastasia Novak, Corporate and Sustainability Communications Manager at Wizz Air, said the airline was “delighted to add Bratislava to our network from Armenia”, highlighting Armenia’s “rich cultural heritage, warm hospitality, and growing travel demand”.
She added that the expansion reflects Wizz Air’s ongoing commitment to affordable pricing, a broader choice of destinations, and reliable flight performance – core pillars of its low-cost model.

For Armenian passengers, the new service provides a non-stop, low-cost option to a Central European capital that was previously harder to reach without connections. This is particularly relevant for families and leisure travellers seeking shorter flight times and predictable schedules.
For Slovak and regional travellers, the route creates a direct entry point into Armenia, supporting cultural exchange and independent travel. As more low-cost routes open from Yerevan, Armenia is becoming increasingly accessible for European city-break travellers willing to look beyond traditional destinations.
